Supported by world-class infrastructure and award-winning venues, it is the ideal place to experiment and transform to turn your vision for your next business event into reality.
Singapore’s Business Travel, Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conventions and Exhibitions (BTMICE) sector continues to perform consistently well against a backdrop of growing opportunities from both traditional outbound markets such as the United States and Europe, and high-growth potential markets including China and India. In 2018, we welcomed about 2.7 million BTMICE visitors (+10% growth), who spent over $4 billion.
Singapore’s MICE landscape is truly exceptional. It has all the basics of a good host: an empowering business environment, world-class facilities and infrastructure, professional services, exclusive event venues and attractions, all in a rich and unique cosmopolitan yet multicultural Asian setting. As the winner of multiple business destination awards, Singapore is a pioneering and stimulating presence in the MICE industry globally.
THE APPEAL OF SINGAPORE
Knowledge and a strong network
The more than 7,000 multinational companies in Singapore – of which 4,000 are regional headquarters – and a pro-business government contribute greatly to the ease of conducting business on the island. In fact, the World Bank has ranked Singapore as one of the world’s easiest places to do business in (Doing Business 2019 Report), while the Economist Intelligence Unit ranks Singapore as having the best Business Environment in the World (EIU Country Forecast Report 2017-2021).
Singapore has unique strengths in knowledge-based and knowledge-driven industries such as advanced manufacturing, aerospace & logistics, applied health sciences, design, financial services, innovation, media & digital content and travel. We have also successfully grown our R&D base, drawing top scientific and creative talent and nurtured many R&D collaborations between the public sector and private enterprise. These factors continue to draw international thought leaders, high-level government officials and international personalities to Singapore for the exchange of ideas and insights. The country’s strong knowledge economy is rooted in its reputation for integrity, quality, reliability, productivity, rule of law and enforcement of intellectual property rights.
Event organisers can also take advantage of the rising interest in Asia from the international business community, and attract delegates looking to access and harness the growing opportunities this region has to offer.
Organise events with ease
Singapore prides itself on its efficiency and quality professional services that the local industry can provide to business event organisers. The Singapore Exhibition & Convention BureauTM
(SECB) works closely with industry partners to provide a customised solution for each event, while Singapore’s solid infrastructure and business efficiency ensure that event organisers can run their business events with greater confidence of success.
Its healthy MICE eco-system consists of a wide range of extremely experienced Professional Convention Organisers (PCOs), Professional Exhibition Organisers (PEOs), Associations, suppliers (booth stand contractors), venue operators, as well as a dynamic local MICE industry association, Singapore Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (SACEOS).
As Asia’s leading air, sea and telecommunications hub, Singapore offers access to a marketplace of some 4 billion people within a seven-hour flight radius. In 2019, Singapore Changi Airport was been voted as the World’s Best Airport for the seventh consecutive year (Skytrax World Airport Awards), and continues to burnish its airhub status with links to some 400 cities in about 100 countries and territories worldwide by more than 100 international airlines.
Inspiring venues at every turn
Singapore offers an excellent range of modern and high-technology convention centres, exhibition halls and meeting venues that suit a variety of needs and budgets. Singapore’s compact size works to these venues’ advantage as they can provide first-rate conference and meeting facilities as well as the convenience of a wide range of accommodation, food, shopping, entertainment and other lifestyle options all in close proximity to each other. Indeed, business travellers and event delegates never have to travel far from their meeting places to enjoy top-notch leisure activities and entertainment.
The city’s integrated resorts Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa have contributed greatly to Singapore’s MICE infrastructure and added a host of unique venue options including a Marine Life ParkTM
, Maritime Experiential MuseumTM
, ArtScience MuseumTM
, and Sands SkyPark®
. This often translates to innovative meeting concepts that could range from incentive group meetings at the Universal Studios SingaporeTM
theme park to post-meeting entertainment with long-running Broadway shows or fine dining with celebrity chefs.
Other developments such as the Gardens by the Bay, National Gallery Singapore, Capitol Piazza and Victoria Theatre & Victoria Concert Hall offer yet more unconventional venues so that business event organisers can conceptualise creative programmes that deepen the overall delegate experience. The Huone Singapore at Clarke Quay along the Singapore River prides itself in being the first in Asia to provide a holistic solution to business meetings and events, with thematic meeting rooms such as Igloo and Forest, event consultation and entertainment.
Myriad and unique leisure offerings
While the island boasts top-notch business infrastructure, it is also home to a rich tapestry of unique leisure experiences. Its small, compact size and exceptional public transport system make getting around a breeze for time-strapped business travellers. Singapore’s various precincts each boast unique leisure offerings, be it shopping, nightlife, dining or rich culture and heritage, making for a comprehensive and convenient way for business travellers to take in varied sights and activities.
For starters, Orchard Road – which has been voted one of the top shopping streets in the world – is home to nearly 800,000 square metres of luxury fashion and high street retailers as well as Michelin-starred restaurants, award-winning bars and nightlife venues that are perfect for unwinding after a long day of meetings.
Marina Bay has luxury hotels, exclusive nightspots, fine dining destinations and world-class theatres, all connected by a beautiful waterfront promenade that provides memorably scenic views.
The historic Singapore River, which is flanked by lifestyle hotspots Boat Quay, Clarke Quay and Robertson Quay, is abuzz with a lively array of dining and nightlife options. The best way to explore them all is with a ride on the quaint River Taxi that plies the waterway.
The southern neighbourhood of Harbourfront is the gateway to Sentosa, a 500-hectare island resort located just 15 minutes away from the central business and shopping districts. The balmy precinct brings together 32 stunning attractions and more than 130 dining options to suit all budgets.
At the thriving precinct of Chinatown, well-preserved conservation shophouses have been converted into hip bars and restaurants that smartly marry the old with the new. And at Little India, experience the cacophony of car horns, bicycle bells and the vibrant chatter of residents in what is one of Singapore’s most vibrant and culturally authentic districts. Hidden amidst its colourful alleyways permeated with the heady scent of spices are trendy hotels and bars, and charming shopping and authentic dining options.

The scheme includes facilitation in securing venues, introductions to leading government agencies, local associations and business partners, as well as marketing and publicity support.
The Approved International Fair (AIF) scheme confers official recognition through a stamp of endorsement to selected exhibitors with proven international and commercial appeal. AIF-endorsed events can be assured of effectively reaching the Asian market, making contacts and networking with important international trade visitors and buyers, as well as gaining access to a range of quality international products and services brought together at a single venue.

The In Singapore Incentives & Rewards (INSPIRE) programme caters to small to mid-sized MICE groups. Qualified MICE groups to Singapore can enjoy complimentary experiences offered under the rewards programme. This includes over 60 options across four broad categories, namely dining, attractions, thematic tours and team-building experiences to complement the itineraries of MICE groups in Singapore.
The Conference Ambassador Programme (CAP) is another SECB initiative that identifies and recognises the contributions and efforts of notable professionals and key opinion leaders that champion Singapore’s MICE industry.
